Quality Technician. Hawick, Scottish Borders.
Join a global manufacturer of fibre-optic network solutions at a time of real growth. You'll work across production quality in a well-established business with sites across Scotland, Europe, the USA and Middle East. Report to the UK Quality Manager and help drive the continuous improvement that keeps this operation ahead.
What you'll do
Monitor the production lifecycle and carry out regular testing and audits to ensure internal, customer and regulatory standards are met. Inspect and test materials, processes and products against specification. Identify issues, segregate non-conforming product and determine the right disposition. Support the NCR process and work across departments to develop corrective actions and improvements. Perform internal audits and help prepare for external and supplier audits to ISO 9001. Research, analyse and report on quality data within the manufacturing environment. Manage calibration duties and maintain the calibration schedule. Ensure products are packaged to high standard. Collaborate with internal teams to reduce scrap and rework, increase customer satisfaction and boost throughput.
What you'll bring
You're educated to HNC/HND level or time-served in engineering, manufacturing, science or a technical discipline. You have solid experience working in medium to high volume production. You understand ISO 9001 and have a proven track record in problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective action planning. Experience of driving change from reactive to proactive practice is a real plus. You're methodical, process-focused and comfortable with measurement devices and quality tools. Experience with ERP/MRP or SAP systems is valuable. We also welcome candidates from non-production backgrounds such as NHS, armed forces, lab testing or science roles, where you can bring transferable quality and analytical skills.
